6 Rescued From Sinking Boat in Channel Islands Harbor
VENTURA COUNTY (June 10, 2018) – A sinking boat incident occurred Sunday morning in Channel Islands Harbor, according to Ventura County Star.
As per the article, a 36-foot recreational boat sent out a mayday call around 9 a.m. today. The call said the craft was taking on water, about 12 miles south of Channel Islands Harbor.
Shortly after the call, helicopter and boat crews stationed at Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu responded.
Primary reports indicated three people were hoisted by the helicopter, and were taken back to the Point Mugu base. Furthermore, three other parties were pulled out the water by the responding boat crew around 9:30 a.m.
The identities of the crews rescued from the sinking vessel remained unknown at this time.
Investigators handling the case continue to work to determine the exact cause of the incident.
