Elderly Driver Accidentally Accelerates, Causes Collision that Pins Sharp
Police said Bobby Sharp, of Petaluma, was trying to get into his parked car in front of G&G Supermarket on Sonoma Mountain Parkway about 2 p.m.
At the same time, 86-year-old Petaluma resident Marilyn Weaver accidentally accelerated instead of stepping on the brake as she attempted to park her white Nissan Sentra, five parking spaces away from Sharp.
Weaver crashed into a red Chevrolet Cruz which then forced a tan Toyota Camry into the slightly opened driver’s door of another Camry, pinning 71-year-old.
Sharp was freed from the impacted vehicles and was subsequently transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with rib injuries. Police affirmed he is expected to recover.
The accident is still under investigation.
