1 Killed, 1 Hospitalized After Head-On Collision Near Estero Lane
Bodega Bay, CA (April 25, 2022) – One person died, and another suffered injuries following a traffic accident that occurred Sunday evening on State Route 1.
The KCBS News reported two vehicles collided on the highway just west of Estero Lane near Hagemann Ranch. Preliminary investigation revealed a Toyota Tacoma heading north on SR-1 swerved to the left for an unknown reason. The Tacoma crossed over the double yellow lines and drove into the southbound lanes of the highway.
According to the article published online, the Tacoma crashed head-on into a BMW 325XI. The force from the impact resulted in significant damage to both vehicles.
Deadly Car Accident on State Route 1 in Bodega Bay
First responders reportedly found both the driver of the Tacoma and the BMW trapped in their cars. Rescue teams worked extensively to extricate the victims. Despite life-saving efforts performed by paramedics, the driver of the BMW sadly succumbed to his injuries and died. Authorities only identified the deceased as a local man from Forestville.
Officials mentioned the 16-year-old boy driving the Tacoma sustained major injuries as a result of the wreck. A Golden Gate CHP helicopter airlifted the patient to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Several factors surrounding the incident remained unclear. At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the catastrophic incident on on State Route 1 in Bodega Bay.
