2 Injured in Bodega Bay Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 1 Near Tides Wharf
BODEGA BAY, CA (April 27, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash injured two people on Highway 1 near a restaurant in Bodega Bay.
According to an article published The Press Democrat, the accident occurred last week on Friday. Officers reported the wreck on April 23 at around 9 p.m.
The incident began when a Ford Ranger pickup truck was going north on Highway 1 near the Tides Wharf & Restaurant in Bodega Bay. At the same time, a Jeep Wrangler was traveling south.
For an unknown reason, the Ford crossed the double yellow line and struck the Jeep. The Wrangler then plunged 30 feet down an embankment upon impact.
Driver Hits Another Car, Flees Scene
The California Highway Patrol said the Jeep ended up partially submerged in Bodega Bay. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon responded to the scene.
The driver of the Wrangler suffered major injuries while the passenger sustained a minor injury as a result of the collision. Medical personnel rushed them to a hospital for treatment.
Their names and condition at this time were not released. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the male motorist in the Ranger abandoned his truck and got into another vehicle.
He soon fled the area. Authorities are still searching for the hit-and-run driver. They forced both lanes of the road to close for over half an hour following the Bodega Bay crash.
