Bong Lee, 84, Killed Avila Beach Crash on Highway 101 Near Monte Road
AVILA BEACH (March 21, 2019) – A traffic collision along Highway 101 in Avila Beach killed one person and injured three others last week on March 13.
California Highway Patrol said the incident began when a 51-year-old Milpitas woman was driving a Nissan Quest minivan at around 11 a.m.
The driver entered northbound Highway 101 from Monte Road and then made an unsafe turning movement. The van plunged down a wooded embankment and ultimately struck a tree.
3 Injured in Avila Beach Car Crash on Highway 101
According to The Mercury News, all four people riding the minivan were injured as a result of the crash. Two people sustained minor wounds while the other two suffered major injuries.
One of the seriously hurt victims died after being transported to a hospital. The deceased party has been identified as 84-year-old Bong Lee, of Milpitas.
The names of the other people involved and their condition were not disclosed. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
