Bonnie Tibbitts, 79, Struck and Killed by Car in Shasta Lake

SHASTA LAKE (June 5, 2018) – An elderly woman killed after being hit by a car outside of a bank on Shasta Dam Boulevard Friday has been identified as Bonnie Lou Tibbitts, according to Record Searchlight and KRCRTV.

The coroner’s office said the 79-year-old Shasta Lake resident was a victim of a tragic accident which occurred on June 1 at around 11:15 a.m.

As per the reports, deputies determined that a driver was apparently attempting to park her vehicle in the parking space of Tri Counties Bank when she stepped on the accelerator.

Car Crashes Into ATM, Hits Elderly Woman in Shasta Lake

The motorist, 58-year-old Redding resident Deborah Beaupre, struck the walk-up ATM on the east side of the bank where Tibbitts was standing. The bank is located at 4715 Shasta Dam Boulevard.

Officials affirmed that Tibbitts was rushed to Mercy Medical Center where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Meanwhile, Beaupre stopped and cooperated with the authorities. The incident remains under investigation.
