Man, 29, Killed in Santa Cruz Mountains DUI Crash on Highway 9
BOULDERS CREEK (August 10, 2018) – A pedestrian was killed by an alleged DUI driver early Friday on Highway 9 in Santa Cruz Mountains, according to KION News.
The accident took place at around 2:20 a.m., south of Bear Creek Road.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said a 29-year-old man was apparently walking on Highway 9 when he was struck by a 1995 tan Buick LeSabre.
Suspected Drunk Driver ID’d as Taralyn McKay, 24
The Buick driven by 24-year-old Taralyn McKay was traveling north on Highway 9, also known as Central Avenue, when it hit the pedestrian.
CHP affirmed that the victim was found unconscious in the roadway. He was rushed to a trauma center in Santa Clara where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The name of the deceased has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, McKay was believed to have been drunk driving at the time of the collision. The Boulder Creek woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
