Box Truck and Car in Crash on I-580 Freeway in Pleasanton

PLEASANTON, Calif. (August 21, 2026) — (August 21, 2026) — A crash involving a box truck and a Toyota sedan in Pleasanton caused significant traffic Friday afternoon on westbound I-580 Freeway near Hacienda Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported on August 21st at approximately 2:21 p.m. on the westbound Interstate 580 just east of the Hacienda Drive off-ramp.

Initial CHP reports indicated a white semi-truck/box truck collided with a tan Toyota Prius. Subsequent reports described a box truck and red sedan as being involved.

The collision blocked lanes on the freeway, including the HOV lane and at least one regular traffic lane. Emergency crews responded to the scene as the damaged vehicles remained in the roadway.

A driver who had exited a vehicle was reportedly in shock, while the Toyota sustained heavy damage. CHP requested an ambulance for at least one person involved in the crash who was injured.

By approximately 2:37 p.m., CHP reported that lanes 1 and 2 were blocked by fire, adding to the traffic disruption. A tow truck was later requested to remove the damaged Toyota.

The circumstances leading to the collision remain under investigation. Drivers traveling through the area were advised to expect delays while emergency crews investigated the crash and cleared the roadway.
