Calen Huiskens Car Crash in Woodland on 5 Freeway
WOODLAND (April 13, 2017)
According to the Sacramento Bee, a car accident involving two vehicles took place Thursday on southbound Interstate 5 resulting the death of a young boy.
The incident occurred at roughly 4:45 p.m. when 35-year-old Caleb Cobb Huiskens failed to recognized that traffic had come to a halt before slamming into the rear of a vehicle with three people inside.
An 11-year-old boy who has not been identified was seriously injured and rushed to a hospital immediately following the accident. The boy tragically pronounced dead a short while later after his admittance.
The two other occupants inside were also injured with moderate to minor degree injuries. Both were also transported to the hospital for treatment.
Caleb Huiskens was able to escape the collision without any injuries as was the driver of the second car that he struck as well.
California Highway Patrol officials did not issue a statement and disclose whether drugs or alcohol were involved or what caused Huiskens to not see traffic stopped ahead.
More details will be released pending the investigation.
