Teen Struck, Killed in Crash at Avenue 48 and Oasis Street
INDIO, Calif. (May 23, 2022) — A 13-year-old Indio boy died Sunday night following a pedestrian accident at Avenue 48 and Oasis street in Indio.
The accident happened at 8:22 p.m. on May 22nd, according to the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
The teen is identified on the Riverside coroner’s website.
A driver reportedly struck the young teenager in the roadway due to unknown circumstances.
Indio police responded with paramedics to the scene and located the young person with major injuries. Sadly, he died 11 minutes later at the crash scene.
Authorities report the driver cooperated with the investigation. Police do not suspect drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident.
Authorities are urging drivers to avoid the area between Monroe and Jackson street and to stay away from Oasis street as the roadway will be closed.
