Tony Santiago Fatally Hits Justin Paz, Injures 13-Year-Old Brother
OILDALE, California (May 2, 2016) – A boy identified as Justin Paz, 9, was killed and his brother was hurt after being hit by a vehicle on Grant Drive Monday morning, according to Bakersfield Now.
The collision occurred just before 8:30 a.m., south of Lincoln Avenue, east of North Beardsley Elementary.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said the mother was reportedly in the middle of a breakup with her boyfriend, 38-year-old Tony Ronald Santiago when he backed his SUV in an unsafe manner. Santiago’s vehicle ran over both Justin Paz his 13-year-old brother.
23 ABC News said that Justin Paz was taken to Kern Medical Center, where he later died. The older boy sustained minor injuries.
According to Bakersfield Now, Santiago drove onto the sidewalk and went off the curb, crashing into a fire hydrant and a nearby fence. CHP believed the woman and her children attempted to stop him, in the process the car struck both young victims.
Meanwhile, Santiago was reportedly cooperating with the authorities. The incident remains under investigation.
