Tragic Collision in Sherman Oaks Claims Life of 12-Year-Old Boy
Sherman Oaks, CA (June 18, 2025) — A 12-year-old boy died and several others were injured when a car crashed into the rear of a parked moving truck Tuesday morning on Woodman Avenue, just north of Moorpark Street.
UPDATE: The child has been identified as Steven Gambaryan.
At approximately 10:17 a.m., emergency crews from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to a fatal crash at 4474 North Woodman Avenue, according to LAFD spokesperson Margaret Stewart.
It’s unknown what led up to the collision, but the moving truck appears to be partially blocking the number two lane on Woodman Avenue, according to video footage at the scene. The back of the truck was completely open, and a long ramp extended from the back.
The front passenger in the vehicle, a 12-year-old boy, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. An unidentified woman and a 10-year-old boy who were also in the vehicle were taken to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.
A third patient, who was not involved in the crash itself, was also transported for unrelated medical reasons.
Members of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and a Crisis Response Team were on the scene, offering support to the grieving family. The area was secured as investigators began gathering evidence.
Authorities are urging the public to refer all media inquiries regarding the ongoing investigation to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division under Incident #1595.
This tragic event is a stark reminder of how quickly lives can change on our roadways. The names of those involved have not been released pending notification of relatives.
