Boy Riding Bicycle Killed in Bakersfield Crash Columbus Street, Loyola Street
Car Hits Boy on Bike at Columbus and Loyola Streets
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Nov. 14, 2024) — A driver struck and killed a 13-year-old boy riding a bicycle on Columbus Street near Loyola Street Wednesday afternoon in Bakersfield.
The traffic accident occurred at around 2:54 p.m. on Nov. 13th, according to Bakersfield Now.
Police officers responded to the intersection where they located the injured boy and a vehicle stopped nearby.
Paramedics performed CPR on the victim and transported him to a hospital where he later died. The child was later identified as Jeremiah A. Villalobos., 13, of Bakersfield. He was a student at Chipman Junior High School.
Investigators determined a man driving westbound on Columbus Street struck the bicyclist as he rode south on Loyola Street. There are no crosswalks or traffic lights at the intersection. for
The motorist stopped and cooperated with police and the investigation into the bicycle crash on Columbus Street.
The name and age of the bicyclist will be released at a later time by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
