BOYLE HEIGHTS, California (May 18, 2015) — At least one person suffered minor injuries Monday morning when a semi-tractor trailer truck and a Nissan Quest minivan collided on the southbound Interstate 5 Freeway at the connection to the Pomona 60 Freeway, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.
The big rig truck jackknifed and overturned onto its side and was blocking the roadway after the crash about 5:52 a.m. The truck was hauling glass and its cargo shattered all over traffic lanes. The truck’s engine was smoking and leaking diesel fuel following the accident.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to help those who were injured in the crash. It turns out there were minor injuries involved and no one required transport to the hospital.
A SigAlert was issued for roughly two hours as the roadway was cleared of glass and debris from the crash.
CHP officers are investigating the crash and will issue a report with their findings about which driver was liable for the crash.
