Motorcyclist Hits 8th Grade Boy in Crosswalk
BOYLE HEIGHTS, Calif. (March 31, 2023) — A 13-year-old boy lost his leg Thursday after being hit by a motorcyclist in a crosswalk at Whittier Boulevard and Orme Avenue in Boyle Heights.
The motorcycle rider fled the scene without stopping to help the severely-injured eighth grader.
The collision occurred about 3:27 p.m. on March 30th, according to KTLA News. The boy was found lying in the roadway with major injuries.
Paramedics responded and Joshua Mora, 13, an eighth grader at Hollenbeck Middle School, was hospitalized following the crash.
The Los Angeles Police Department is searching for the suspect described as a white male riding a motorcycle.
The intersection is known to be dangerous and has no signal lights or visible traffic signs, KTLA reports.
The collision remains under investigation by the LAPD.
