Ramon Valencia, 34, Triggers Deadly Crash in Ventura on Highway 101
Per the LA Times, a CHP officer saw the wrong-way driver and attempted to alert other officials but it was too late as Valencia, of Santa Paula, slammed head-on into the couple, Cline and Thomas.
Both Thomas and Cline who were inside a Nissan Versa tragically suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced at the scene, as was their dog.
The driver of the Toyota responsible for the crash was also pronounced dead at the scene. He is only being ID’ed right now as a 34-year-old from Santa Paula.
California Highway Patrol officials cannot confirm just yet but believe that alcohol likely played a role here.
With the information provided from the report, there is clearly negligence and wrongdoing on behalf of the motorist who was speeding well over the limit clocking out at roughly 100 mph. Authorities will also soon determine whether drugs or alcohol were an involving factor causing this tragedy. JAG Founder James Johnson stresses the importance of road awareness especially in the late evening or early stages of the morning where there may be drunk or reckless drivers present. When it is late at night and the roads are clear it is recommended to drive in the far right lane on any road, highway, or freeway to give the driver enough time to react to a dangerous driver who could potentially swerve into oncoming traffic.
