Brandon Vasaturo, 33, ID’d as Suspect in Logan Heights Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 6, 2022) – Authorities detained Brandon Vasaturo after a hit-and-run crash killed a pedestrian in Logan Heights.
Police identified the 33-year-old San Diego man as the suspect in the collision which took place on Monday.
The incident happened when Brandon Anthony Vasaturo struck a male pedestrian in the Logan Heights neighborhood. The victim was walking in the 2000 block of Franklin Avenue at the time.
San Diego police said he hit the man in his 60s for an unknown reason, south of Commercial Street. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found the victim down on the ground.
Pedestrian Killed in Collision
The patient sustained a serious head trauma as a result of the collision. Medical personnel then rushed him to a hospital, where he died.
The name of the deceased man has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. The ABC 10 News and FOX 5 News wrote that the accident occurred on January 3 shortly after 3:15 a.m.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that Brandon Vasaturo did not stop to render aid and fled the area. They located the suspect car parked a block away following the incident.
Officers soon arrested and booked Brandon Vasaturo into county jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. The Logan Heights hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
