BREA (March 7, 2017)- According to KTLA News, a deadly collision took place Sunday morning at the intersection of Imperial Highway and Kraemer Boulevard resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to three others.
Police officials were notified of the crash which occurred right around 2:40 a.m. between a Toyota Corolla and a Ford Fusion.
Preliminary reports indicate that a woman had been driving the Toyota southbound on Kraemer before blowing through a red light and hitting the Ford occupied by three parties. One of the vehicle struck a tree before coming to rest while the other came to rest on the sidewalk after jumping a curb.
Per KTLA News, the woman in the Toyota had not been wearing a seat belt as she was ejected from her car. She suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced at the scene as she remains unidentified.
Meanwhile, the three occupants in the Ford, two men and a woman, were all badly injured and transported to UCI Med Center. All three victims are expected to survive and have not been identified at this time.
The Brea Police Department will be the agency investigating this collision. They believe there is a possibility that the driver of the Toyota may have been under the influence, however, it cannot be confirmed at this time as toxicology reports have not been released.
Kraemer and Imperial Highway remained shut down for approximately six hours while the wreckage was cleared off the road as police investigated.
