Hit-and-run Driver Sought after Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Freeway
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (May 31, 2024) — A deadly pedestrian accident happened Thursday on the 101 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles.
The collision occurred just before midnight on May 30th near Los Angeles Street, according to the California Highway Patrol report.
CHP officials reported the driver involved fled the scene without stopping to call for help for the dying person.
It’s unknown at this time why the person was walking in freeway lanes at the time of the collision, police said.
Meanwhile, the victim’s identity will be released by the Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner after their next of kin has been notified.
Investigators are working on the case, but so far there is no description of the vehicle.
Finally, police issued a Sigalert due to traffic backing up in the area due to the investigation.
