Woman, 19, Arrested DUI; Leonard Flores Killed in Crash
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (Oct. 30, 2018) — Brenda Baker Phansukhumthana, 19, was arrested after an alleged drug-fueled crash killed a man Saturday morning on Central Ave., about 100 yards east of Montclair Dr.
The victim was identified as Leonard Flores, 52, of Riverside.
He died at the scene, roughly 15 minutes after the crash at 5:35 a.m.
There were two vehicles involved in the collision. Phansukhumthana and her female passenger suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene. It was during the investigation after the collision that police recognized symptoms of driving under the influence of drugs. Phansukhumthana was booked into Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter. She was released on $75,000 bail a few hours later and is scheduled to be arraigned at Riverside’s Hall of Justice, on Dec. 28.
The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is heading up the investigation.
We offer our condolences to the family of Mr. Flores as they cope with this tragedy.
