Brent Hoquist Killed in Woodcrest Motorcycle Accident on Van Buren Boulevard

SUV and Motorcyclist Collide at Woodcrest Intersection

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. (Jan. 9, 2025) — Brent Hoquist, 35, of Corona, died Wednesday night in a crash involving his motorcycle and an SUV at Van Buren Boulevard and Gardner Avenue in Woodcrest, authorities confirmed.

According to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office, Hoquist was pronounced dead at 5:11 p.m. on Jan. 7, 2026, at the scene of the crash. The collision occurred minutes earlier, at approximately 5 p.m., at the same intersection.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal crash. Detectives believe Hoquist was riding a Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on Van Buren Boulevard and was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed as he approached the Woodcrest-area intersection.

At the same time, a 24-year-old Riverside woman driving a Dodge SUV was traveling westbound on Van Buren Boulevard and initiated a left turn to head south on Gardner Avenue. Authorities said the driver apparently did not see the oncoming motorcycle.

“As the Dodge attempted to make the left turn, the Yamaha collided with the right front of the SUV,” Navarro said. Hoquist was ejected from the motorcycle as a result of the impact.

The SUV driver remained at the scene and was not injured. No additional injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation by CHP Riverside detectives.
