2 Seriously Injured in Brentwood Crash at Sand Creek and Minnesota
BRENTWOOD, CA (June 27, 2022) – Two were seriously injured after a crash at Sand Creek Road and Minnesota Avenue in Brentwood.
According to The Press and East County Today, the accident took place on Monday morning. Officers reported the wreck at around 10:30 a.m.
The incident began when a pickup truck was going east on Sand Creek Road, approaching Minnesota Avenue, in Brentwood. At the same time, an SUV was traveling north on Minnesota.
Police said the driver of the pickup then ran a red light and slammed into the SUV in the intersection. The SUV spun into a bicyclist crossing Sand Creek with the light.
Driver Runs Red Light, Causes Pile-Up
Firefighters arrived at the scene and soon freed the trapped male motorist in the SUV from the wreckage. A ground ambulance rushed the man in his 60s to a hospital for treatment of major injuries.
The man riding the bicycle sustained critical injuries as a result of the incident. Police said an air ambulance took the rider in critical condition.
The reports did not disclose the names of the two wounded parties. CHP mentioned that at least two more vehicles became involved in the process.
Meanwhile, officers forced the area of Sand Creek and Minnesota to shut down following the wreck. The cause of the Brentwood crash is still under investigation.
