Brian Allen, 64, Killed in Yuba County Crash on Highway 70 Near Feather River
YUBA COUNTY, CA (May 3, 2021) – Brian Allen was killed after a DUI crash on Highway 70 south of Marysville in Yuba County.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 64-year-old Marysville man as the victim of the fatal wreck last week on Friday morning.
The incident happened on April 30 when Brian Allen was driving a 2007 Kia Optima south on Highway 70 in Yuba County. At the same time, a 1994 Honda Accord was going north.
CHP said the Honda then crossed the center divider onto the southbound lanes and continued the wrong-way. In the process, the Accord struck the Kia near Feather River Boulevard.
DUI Wrong-Way Crash Near Marysville
Both cars sustained major damage due to the impact. The Honda rolled onto its roof on the right shoulder while the Optima ended up on its wheels following the collision.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and confirmed that Brian Allen died as a result of the Yuba County crash.
Action News Now and Appeal Democrat reported the wreck shortly before 5 a.m. Meanwhile, the male driver of the Accord sustained minor injuries, including laceration of his chin and back pain.
CHP determined he was under the influence of drugs when the accident took place. They soon arrested him on gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI causing injury.
Authorities also charged the suspect with misdemeanor counts of driving on a suspended license and possessing paraphernalia. The fatal Yuba County crash is still under investigation.
