3 Killed in Fontana Crash on the Interstate 15 Freeway
FONTANA, Calif. (Oct. 28, 2022) — Brian Joel Melina, 20, of Rialto, and Olga Danilova, 57, of Glendale, are two of three people who died in a Fontana crash Monday night on the Interstate 15 Freeway.
Authorities have not released the name of the passenger from one of the cars who also died.
The fatal Fontana crash occurred about 11:40 p.m. on Oct. 24th, just south of Sierra Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
One of the drivers was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of the I-15 Freeway. The vehicle collided with the second motorist, leaving Brian Melina and a passenger trapped inside a black 2016 Honda fully engulfed in flames. Police do not know which of the two drivers was going the wrong way at this time.
Paramedics responded and pronounced a man and woman from the car dead at the scene, the CHP said.
Also, Olga Danilova became trapped inside a maroon Kia hatchback and died at the scene, KTLA 5 News reports.
Authorities are working to determine which driver was traveling in the wrong direction.
Police issued a SigAlert and closed down the freeway for several hours to investigate the Fontana wrong-way crash.
