Brian Thornton, 36, Seriously Injured in Yuba City Hit-and-Run Crash

YUBA CITY, CA (November 13, 2021) – Brian Thornton was seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash at Highway 20 and Gray Avenue in Yuba City.

The California Highway Patrol identified the 36-year-old Yuba City man as one of the victims in the wreck which took place on Wednesday.

The incident began when Brian Thornton was riding a 2021 KTM motorcycle in the No. 2 lane on eastbound Highway 20 in Yuba City.

At the same time, a white sedan was traveling in the same direction while a 2008 Chrysler minivan was going east in the No. 3 lane.

The sedan crossed the intersection of Gray Avenue and failed to see the motorcycle to the right. The car made an abrupt turn to the right to enter the west entrance of the AM/PM.

Brian Thornton braked but collided with the right side of the sedan. The car continued to the right and forced him directly in front of the Chrysler.

The minivan then struck the motorcyclist and the sedan. CHP said the bike went off the road, rolled over on the sidewalk and slid into a tree.

Brian Thornton ended up trapped between the motorcycle and the tree as a result of the Yuba City crash. Paramedics rescued and rushed him to the UC Davis Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.

The motorist in the minivan sustained minor wounds. The Appeal Democrat wrote that the accident occurred on November 10 at around 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver of the sedan did not stop to help and fled the area. They described the car as a white Chevy Cruze from 2011-2016.

The Chevy obtained possible damage to its right front door and fender and a missing right side mirror. Officers are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect who badly hurt Brian Thornton.

The Yuba City hit-and-run crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the CHP at 530-674-5141.
