
Fatal Traffic Collision on Riviera Drive
Pacific Beach, CA (January 29, 2023) – Brian Armenta Zamora suffered serious injuries following a suspect DUI crash that occurred on Riviera Drive Sunday, January 22.
1 Killed, 1 Injured in Pacific Beach DUI Crash
The NBC News reported Zamora and his girlfriend were hit by a car driven by an allegedly intoxicated driver. Preliminary investigation revealed Zamora and her girlfriend pulled onto the side of Riviera Drive in the Crown Point area shortly before 1:30 a.m. According to the article published online, the couple stepped out of their car and stood just outside the SUV to look at their flat tire. While standing along the road, a Toyota pickup truck slammed into the back of the disabled vehicle and hit the two parties. The force from the impact instantly killed the woman.
Authorities added Brian Armenta Zamora also suffered injuries as a result of the wreck. Our sources indicated firefighters had to pull out the victim pinned underneath the truck. After the extrication process and evaluation, medical personnel transported Zamora to the hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
Officers said the driver showed signs of intoxication during the investigation process. Police then booked the man into San Diego central jail on charges of first-degree murder; gross vehicular manslaughter; and driving under the influence.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
