1 Killed, 3 Critically Injured in Campo Crash
CAMPO (July 3, 2019) – Briana Nichole Meeks, 17, was killed and three others were injured after a traffic collision Friday night on Highway 94, also known as Campo Road.
The San Diego Medical Examiner identified the teenager as the victim who died in the crash.
The collision was reported at 6:55 p.m. on June 28th between two motorists, near the intersection with Sheridan Road.
The drivers of a Kia sedan and an older-model work pickup collided on Highway 94 (Campo Road), according to reports by NBC San Diego and San Diego Union-Tribune.
Cal Fire San Diego firefighters responded to the crash scene where they found one person pinned in the wreckage.
Meeks was on her way to the hospital when she died in the ambulance, the coroner said. Three others hurt in the crash were airlifted to nearby hospitals and were listed in critical condition. There was also a dog that was injured in the crash.
Meanwhile, Campo Road was forced to shut down in both directions until about 8:40 p.m.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation to determine fault.
