Woman, Child Killed in Tulare County Crash Near Visalia
VISALIA, Calif. (May 14, 2019) —Briseda Herrera, 29, and Nicholas Herrera, 12, were killed and two others were injured Monday in a multi-vehicle crash involving a Toyota and a Honda that crashed underneath a big rig truck on Highway 63 (Dinuba Boulevard) and Avenue 336, just north of Visalia.
The crash took place about 8 a.m. on Monday, May 13th in Tulare County. The Honda became trapped underneath the vehicle and the two people died at the scene. The impact caused the truck to jackknife and hit a Toyota, leaving two others critically injured.
Police are reviewing dash camera video from the semi-tractor trailer truck to determine exactly what happened, but the initial investigation has determined that the Honda may have been passing a vehicle that was turning left.
Paramedics rushed two people who were in the Toyota to the hospital to be treated for major injuries.
The truck driver, identified as Juan Carlos Cortez Garcia, 57, was unharmed in the wreck.
