4 Injured, Including 1 Seriously in Crash on 73 Freeway
NEWPORT BEACH (July 15, 2017) – Five people were injured, one seriously, in a traffic collision on 73 Toll Road that also led to the arrest of a suspected drunk driver early Saturday morning, according to The Orange County Register.
California Highway Patrol said the accident involving two vehicles occurred on the southbound 73 Freeway at Jamboree Road.
As per the article, CHP affirmed that 20-year-old Britney Noely Brito was driving a Mazda 3 south of Birch Street when she struck the back of a Toyota Tundra which was traveling at 55 mph at the time.
The force caused the Tundra to rollover several times, causing a male passenger to be ejected from the car. It ended up on the right shoulder of the Jamboree Road off-ramp.
CHP reported that the man, a 38-year-old Santa Ana resident, was transported to Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana with injuries described as officer as major.
Meanwhile, two other occupants of the Tundra and two parties in the Mazda were also hospitalized with unspecified injuries. The names and condition of the patients have not been yet released.
Brito was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. The incident is still under investigation.
Most auto accidents are preventable so long as every motorist practices and complies with the precautionary road measures. In this particular case, it is evident that Ms. Britney Brito is fully responsible for causing the traffic incident and the injuries to the victims. The suspected drunk driver apparently did not consider the consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol and disregarded the safety of others on the road. The victims in this situation have the right to a a personal injury lawsuit against the at-fault party.
