Brittany Lopez, 26, ID’d as Suspect in Norwalk Fatal DUI Crash at Foster and Studebaker
NORWALK, CA (January 8, 2022) – Authorities detained Brittany Lopez after a fatal DUI crash at Foster and Studebaker roads in Norwalk.
Police determined that the 26-year-old Las Vegas woman was under the influence of drugs and alcohol when the collision took place on Sunday.
The incident began when Brittany Lopez was driving a Dodge Charger at a high rate of speed north on Studebaker Road in Norwalk. She then ran a red light at the intersection with Foster Road.
Police said Brittany Lopez slammed into a Chevrolet Camaro and a Toyota Camry. The CBS Los Angeles and My News LA wrote that the accident happened on January 2 at about 10:40 a.m.
Mother and Daughter Killed in Wreck
The driver of the Chevrolet, 50-year-old Shannon Alvarez, and her passenger, a 13-year-old girl, sustained serious injuries following the crash.
Paramedics rushed the victims to the St. Francis Medical Center, where they died. Medical personnel took the motorist in the Camry to a hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
Meanwhile, police soon arrested Brittany Lopez for DUI. They booked her into jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving without a driver’s license in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Records showed that she ended up released on Tuesday. The Norwalk DUI crash is still under investigation.
