Bruce Bodel, 72, Killed in Diamond Bar Hit-and-Run at Penarth and Lycoming
DIAMOND BAR, CA (July 12, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash killed Bruce Bodel at Penarth Avenue and Lycoming Street in Diamond Bar.
The coroner’s office identified the 72-year-old Diamond Bar man as the victim of the fatal collision which took place last week on Sunday.
The incident happened on 4th of July when Bruce Bodel was taking an evening stroll in his Diamond Bar neighborhood. He was was walking north on Penarth Avenue at Lycoming Street.
At the same time, a vehicle was going west on Lycoming. Deputies said for an unknown reason, the driver hit the pedestrian in the intersection.
Pedestrian Hit by Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the man left lying on the ground. He sustained major injuries as a result of the crash.
Medical personnel rushed him to a hospital, where he died after four days. Meanwhile, officers affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the victim and then fled south on Lemon Avenue.
The San Gabriel Valley Tribune wrote that the suspect car, a 2-door silver sedan, obtained damage to its front and a cracked windshield. The deadly collision is still under investigation.
