Bruce Dilworth, 65, Killed in Boyle Heights Hit-and-Run on Northbound 101 Freeway
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 23, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash killed Bruce Dilworth along the 101 Freeway in the Boyle Heights neighborhood.
The coroner’s office identified the 65-year-old man as the victim of the tragic accident which occurred on Tuesday morning.
The incident happened when Bruce Dilworth was on the 101 Freeway, south of Whittier Boulevard, in Boyle Heights. At the same time, a vehicle was going northbound.
Pedestrian Hit by Vehicle Near Whittier Boulevard
The California Highway Patrol said the driver then struck the pedestrian for an unknown reason. According to My News LA, officers reported the collision at about 6:45 a.m.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and found Bruce Dilworth lying face down on the right shoulder. CHP confirmed that he died as a result of the crash.
Meanwhile, the motorist did not stop to render aid to the victim and soon fled the area. Authorities are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect.
Officials forced the northbound 101 Freeway to shut down for a time following the Boyle Heights hit-and-run collision. The investigation is ongoing.
