Fatal Bicycle Crash on Spring Street in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, Calif. (Nov. 7, 2018) — A bicyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries early Wednesday morning after being struck by a motorist on Spring Street.
The crash took place about 4:45 a.m., near the 605 Freeway in Long Beach, police said.
The man, later identified as 39-year-old Bryan Lembke, of Crestline. was riding west on Spring Street prior to the collision. Paramedics responded and transported the injured bicyclist to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. He later died of his injuries at the hospital.
The driver stopped and cooperated with the police investigation.

Police are reviewing the evidence and any witness statements to determine fault for this collision. The investigation will consist of looking at measurements, going over evidence left by the vehicle such as point of impact, final resting positions of the vehicle, skid marks, and gouge marks.
