Bryan Tostado, 25, ID’d as Suspect in Long Beach Fatal Crash on 91 Freeway
LONG BEACH, CA (June 5, 2022) – Authorities detained Bryan Tostado after a crash that killed a man on the 91 Freeway in Long Beach.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 25-year-old Norwalk man as the suspect in the fatal wreck which took place on Sunday.
The incident began when Bryan Tostado was driving 2004 Toyota at a high rate of speed in the No. 1 lane of the eastbound 91 Freeway in Long Beach. At the time, a 2022 Freightliner truck was traveling in the same direction.
CHP said the speeding car continued and then struck the center divider. The Toyota rear-ended the big rig in the process.
Big Rig Driver, 57, Killed in Wreck
The two vehicles crashed just west of Susana Road. The semi-truck spun out of control and went off the road as a result of the collision.
The driver of the big rig, a 57-year-old Santa Ana resident, died at the scene. The name of the deceased victim has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
The Press Telegram and Long Beach Post wrote that the accident occurred at about 1:10 a.m. Meanwhile, Bryan Tostado survived the crash with minor injuries.
Paramedics took him to the Dignity Health-St. Mary Medical Center for treatment. Meanwhile, CHP soon arrested and took the suspect into custody.
The Long Beach crash is still under investigation.
