1 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured in Butte County Crash on Highway 70 Near Yankee Hill
BUTTE COUNTY, CA (July 5, 2021) – A head-on crash killed one person and seriously injured another on Highway 70 near Yankee Hill in Butte County.
According to an article published by the Action News Now, the tragic accident took place early Monday. Officers reported the wreck shortly after 3 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol said two vehicles collided head-on for an unknown reason near Yankee Hill in Butte County. They crashed on Highway 70 between Rich Gulch Road and the bridge.
2 Cars Collide Near Rich Gulch Road
Officials described the cars involved as a red Mazda and a Ford Focus. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and confirmed that a driver died as a result of the collision.
The other motorist sustained major injuries upon impact. An air ambulance took the patient to a hospital for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP forced a stretch of Highway 70 near Yankee Hill to shut down for hours following the wreck.
The cause of the fatal Butte County car crash is still under investigation.
