Major Injury Crash on Byron Highway in Contra Costa County

 Byron Highway Head-on Crash at Camino Diablo (May 26)CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, Calif. (May 26, 2021) — A Byron Highway head-on crash Wednesday left five injured including two people critically injured.

The collision happened about 4:40 a.m. on May 26th near Camino Diablo, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The drivers of a pickup truck and SUV collided when one of the motorists veered into the path of the other. Paramedics and police responded to the crash scene where witnesses informed them that two people had fled from one of the vehicles. Furthermore, a nearby resident reported the two suspects walking toward the Byron Airport area about 7:02 a.m.

Also, it’s believed that the injured were transported to hospitals with a range of injuries. There was no further information.

Meanwhile, tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles from the crash scene.

Investigators are piecing together evidence and witness statements to determine liability for the Byron Highway head-on crash.
