Byungsun Han, 86, in Motorized Wheelchair Killed After Chula Vista Accident
CHULA VISTA, CA (February 25, 2021) – An accident killed a man in a motorized wheelchair, Byungsun Han, on Oxford Street in Chula Vista.
The county Medical Examiner identified the 86-year-old Chula Vista resident as the victim of the fatal crash which occurred on Wednesday morning.
The incident happened on February 24 when a Hyundai SUV was traveling east in the 400 block of Oxford Street. At the same time, the elderly man was crossing the street.
Chula Vista police said the car then struck Byungsun Han who was in his motorized wheelchair. The victim ended up ejected onto the road upon impact.

Firefighters along with the paramedics then responded to the scene near Fourth Avenue. They found him underneath a parked vehicle in the area.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Hyundai stopped and stayed at the crash site after hitting the man. Authorities blocked Oxford Street in both directions for three and a half hours following the incident.
The cause of the tragic Chula Vista collision is still under investigation.
