13 Injured in Cabazon Bus Crash on 10 Freeway Near Malki Road
CABAZON, CA (June 3, 2022) – Several were hospitalized after a bus crash on the 10 Freeway near Malki Road in Cabazon.
According to the KTLA News and FOX LA News, the accident took place on Friday morning. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 11 a.m.
The incident began when a Greyhound bus carrying 33 people was traveling about 60-65 mph from Los Angeles to Phoenix, Arizona. The bus was going east in the No. 2 lane of the Interstate 10 Freeway, east of Ramsey Street, in Banning at the time.
The California Highway Patrol said the Greyhound suffered a tire failure to the left front tire. The bus then spun out of control and veered to the left.
In the process, the bus collided with a Mitsubishi Outlander SUV in the No. 1 lane. The Greyhound slammed into the center divider wall and came to a stop in the center median.

The collision occurred on the eastbound 10 Freeway near Malki Road in Cabazon. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
Cal Fire said 11 occupants of the bus and two occupants of the SUV ended up hurt as a result of the wreck. A person from the bus sustained a major injury while the other 12 survived with minor injuries.
Medical personnel then took the patients to the hospital for treatment. The report did not release the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time.
Officials took unharmed bus passengers to the Morongo Tribal Hall at 11-555 Potrero Road in Cabazon. Meanwhile, officers forced the eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway to shut down following the incident.
