Caitlin Marshall Petaluma Accident on Lakeville HighwayCaitlin Marshall, 31, Adult Passenger, and Kids 1, 3, and 5 Injured

LOCATION: Petaluma

DATE OF COLLISION: Thursday, August 9th

August 10, 2018- According to the Press-Democrat, a deadly 3-car head-on collision left an infant dead and many others injured last night on Lakeville Highway.

CHP officials reported that the crash occurred at roughly 8:12 p.m. between a Volkswagen Jetta, a Ford Explorer, and a Ford Fusion.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of the Jetta, Ryan Deloye, 18, of Granite Bay, had been headed northbound when for unknown reasons he veered into southbound lanes directly in the Ford Explorer driven by Caitlin Marshall, 31, of Folsom.

While Marshall’s vehicle left the road, Deloye’s Jetta also struck the Ford Fusion driven by Matthew Swoyer, 25, of Fairfield.

Accompanying Marshall was a 32-year-old adult female passenger, a 7-month infant, and three kids ages 1, 3, and 5.

7-Month-Old Infant Dies

Per the Press-Democrat, the 7-month-old baby tragically died and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, Marshall and her 32-year-old passenger both sustained very serious injuries. Both were rushed to Santa Rosa Memorial and remain hospitalized as of Friday afternoon.

The three children were all transported to a hospital as well. Their conditions are currently unknown.

Matthew Swoyer, the driver of the Ford Fusion, also suffered injuries and was taken to Kaiser Permanente.

Lastly, Deloye incurred minor injuries and was taken away by ambulance also to Santa Rosa Memorial.

At this time, the possible involvement of drugs or alcohol remains unclear as the investigation is ongoing.

Based on the information provided in the report, the driver of the Jetta, Ryan Deloye, will likely be held liable for the collision. A thorough investigation will ensue, however, as photos that were taken of the scene and compiled evidence will help investigators determine the ultimate cause of the collision. Police officials will examine all potential factors including speed, the possible involvement of alcohol or drugs, or whether or not there were any mechanical issues with either vehicle. The investigation will also consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by the vehicles such as point of impact, final resting positions of each vehicle, skid marks, and gouge marks.

In such cases where negligence or wrongdoing may have been a factor, the family of the baby, as well as Caitlin Marshall, her passenger, and the three injured kids will have the right to a wrongful death lawsuit and personal injury lawyer against the motorist, Ryan Deloye. Victims may seek compensation for damages including medical expenses, funeral costs, lost future income, and loss of love and companionship.
