CAJON PASS, California (December 5, 2014) — Brian Castaneda, 17, of Redlands was killed Wednesday night when he was struck by a passing vehicle following a 3-vehicle crash on the Interstate 15 Freeway, according to a press release by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Coroner.
The traffic accident was reported about 11:36 p.m. to the CHP. Police say three drivers collided on the rain-soaked freeway and Castaneda was in one of those cars, NBC News reported. The teenager got out of his car following the crash and was struck by a passing motorist and died at the scene.
The CHP is heading up an investigation into the crash to determine liability.
“My condolences go out to the family of this young man as they cope with this tragedy,” said Attorney James Johnson.
