In the late afternoon of October 21, 75-year-old Fischer was driving a 2010 Toyota and attempted to turn from Meko Drive onto the highway. However, he did not notice an oncoming eastbound Jeep driven by 55-year-old Gillin.
As per the report, Gillin attempted to veer off to avoid collision but failed and ended up crashing with Fischer.
Fischer suffered fatal trauma from the impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Further, Gillin was transported to Mark Twain Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries.
Officers continue their investigation to determine charges and liabilities.
