FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (Sept. 19, 2022) — Motorcyclist Caleb Carias-Jurado, 29, of Ceres, died Friday night in a collision on state Route Highway 99, just north of Shaw Avenue in Fresno County.

The two-vehicle collision occurred about 7:30 p.m. on September 16, 2022, according to the Fresno Area California Highway Patrol.

Someone called 911 to report the crash to the CHP’s Communications Center.

The collision occurred in the southbound lanes of State Route 99, police said.

The bike was traveling southbound on State Route Highway 99 in the No.  1 lane.

The motorist came upon an obstruction in the roadway and hit the obstruction.  Upon impact, the rider was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in the southbound No. 3 lane where he was struck by a 28-year-old woman driving a Toyota Corolla.

Paramedics responded to the scene and located an injured 29-year-old man who had been riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Meanwhile, medical crews took the motorcycle rider to Community Regional Medical Center, but he later died from his injuries.

Investigators are working to determine if alcohol or drugs were a factor.

Witnesses may contact the Fresno Area Public Information officer at (559) 705-2200.
