Motorcyclist Killed in Crash is Identified by Coroner
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (July 9, 2021) — Caleb Romero, 20, of Canyon Country, died Wednesday in a motorcycle accident involving a city of Santa Clarita maintenance vehicle.
The crash happened about 10:45 a.m., at a curve in the roadway near Soledad Canyon Road and Commuter Way, according to Sgt. Steve Sgrignoli of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Additionally, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office identified Caleb Romero as the man who died in Wednesday’s collision.
Sadly, Caleb Romero died at the scene, the coroner said.
Fatal Crash Soledad Canyon Road in Santa Clarita
Investigators report the victim’s motorcycle crashed into a trailer attached to a city of Santa Clarita maintenance vehicle.
The city-owned vehicle was stopped in the No. 3 lane and reportedly had its warning lights on. Additionally, there was a lighted arrow that directed motorists to move into the No. 2 lane, according to police. It’s unknown at this time if there were any witnesses to the collision to confirm this.
Authorities believe that speed may be a factor, however, the posted speed limit is 50 mph. They are also checking to determine if alcohol or drugs were a factor.
Meanwhile, officials with the city of Santa Clarita officials did not comment on the motorcycle collision.
Liability for the crash remains undetermined. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family of Caleb Romero as they cope with this tragedy.
