1 Killed in Calexico Crash at Willoughby Road and Dogwood Road
CALEXICO, CA (August 3, 2021) – One was killed after a car crash at Willoughby Road and Dogwood Road in Calexico.
According to an article published by The Imperial Valley Press, the tragic accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 3:36 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol said a maroon Jeep Compass and a white colored pickup truck collided for an unknown reason in Calexico.
2 Cars Collide
The two crashed at the intersection of Willoughby and Dogwood roads. Both vehicles ended up in a canal nearby as a result of the collision.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found the Jeep fully submerged in water. They located a female victim in the water and pronounced her dead at the scene.
Her name remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin. The report did not mention if any other party sustained injuries following the wreck.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the intersection of Willoughby and Dogwood roads to shut down for hours after the collision. The cause of the fatal Calexico crash is still under investigation.
