CALIMESA, California (November 24, 2015) — A driver in a silver Chevrolet Sonic struck the back of a semi-tractor trailer truck early Tuesday morning while driving in the westbound lanes of the Interstate 10 Freeway, just south of County Line Road, a California Highway Patrol report said.
The crash took place about 6:10 a.m. in the center divider and the No. 1 lane, police said. An off-duty police officer who was at the scene told CHP dispatch that the airbags were deployed in the Chevrolet Sonic following the crash. Also, a third driver who was involved apparently fled the scene without stopping to exchange information. Paramedics responded to help those with minor injuries, but there were no further details.
Police are investigating what led to the collision and will assign liability.
