Calimesa, CA (May 8, 2021) – One person died following a car accident on Interstate 10, also known as Christopher Columbus Transcontinental Highway, Saturday evening.

According to My News LA, the horrible crash happened when a driver lost control of their car and veered away from traffic. Before the car left the roadway, it reportedly collided with an SUV near Cherry Valley Boulevard in Calimesa.

The car eventually careened off the freeway and eventually caught fire. When firefighters arrived at the site, they immediately extinguished the flames.

Deadly Car Accident in Calimesa, May 8

Emergency crews extricated the driver pinned in the wreckage after the fire went out. Paramedics sadly pronounced the motorist dead. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.

No other injuries were reported in the collision.

Investigators handling the case continue to work to determine the precise cause of the fatal car accident in Calimesa.
