Caltrans Subcontractor Killed Fatal Crash 110 Freeway in Downtown L.A.
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 21, 2020) – A Caltrans subcontractor was killed Wednesday in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on the Harbor (110) Freeway. The man was setting up cones for a road closure at West Third Street in downtown Los Angeles.
The 48-year-old Fallbrook man was hit about 12:15 a.m. He was found on the right side of the southbound freeway near West Third Street, according to the California Highway Patrol. The victim worked for a local traffic management company hired by Caltrans.
Fatal Pedestrian Accident 110 Freeway
Upon their arrival, the Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced the man dead on the scene. Meanwhile, the suspect driver fled the scene without stopping to help the victim. Eventually, the Los Angeles Coroner will release the victim’s name.
Furthermore, police are actively searching for a dark-colored SUV with front end damage. This story will be updated as more information as it is released.
Meanwhile, detectives investigating the crash scene closed down the West Third Street collector road. The roadway later reopened about 6 a.m., the CHP reported. The cause of the crash will be determined by police upon the completion of their investigation.
