LOS ANGELES, Calif. (June 24, 2025) — A pedestrian was struck Tuesday morning by a Caltrans truck on the southbound U.S. 101 Freeway just south of the East 4th Street off-ramp,
According to the California Highway Patrol the incident happened around 10:45 a.m. on June 24, 2025. A Caltrans truck reportedly hit the pedestrian in the freeway’s fast lane. However, early CHP radio traffic also mentioned a possible white van that may have been involved and left the scene before officers arrived.
The pedestrian, described as a Hispanic male, was found down in the lanes, blocking traffic. Emergency crews, including Los Angeles Fire Department personnel, responded to the scene. At least one person was transported for medical attention, although the extent of the injuries has not been confirmed.
CHP officers on the scene instructed that the involved vehicles be kept in place as the investigation continued. The crash caused significant traffic delays in the area during late morning hours.
Authorities are working to determine the exact sequence of events and whether additional vehicles were involved.
