Bicyclist, 60, Seriously Injured in Cambria Hit-and-Run at Highway 1 and Ardath Drive
CAMBRIA, CA (September 24, 2021) – A bicyclist was seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash at Highway 1 and Ardath Drive in Cambria.
According to an article published by The Tribune, the accident took place on Friday morning. Officers reported the collision at around 9 a.m.
The incident happened when a 60-year-old Morro Bay woman was riding a bicycle south on Highway 1, approaching Ardath Drive, in Cambria. At the same time, a vehicle was going east on Ardath.
The California Highway Patrol said the driver then made a right turn onto the highway. In the process, the two collided in the intersection.
Bicycle Rider Hit by Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and soon found the bicyclist left lying on the road. She sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then took the rider to the Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo for treatment of a broken collarbone. Officials did not release her name and condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the cyclist and fled the area. They described the car as a black Lexus or Toyota sedan with driver’s side damage to the its front-end.
Officers forced Highway 1 to shut down near Ardath Drive following the collision. The Cambria hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
