Teen Riding Electric Scooter Hit by Bus at Reed and 10th Streets
SAN JOSE, Calif. (Oct. 21, 2022) — Camdan McWright, 18, died early Friday morning when a school bus collided with him while riding a Lime electric scooter at Reed Street and 10th Street in downtown San Jose.
The collision occurred about 6:51 a.m. on Oct. 21st roughly two blocks from the San Jose State University campus, according to the CHP and the San Jose Mercury News.
The San Jose Unified School District bus occupied by 14 students was traveling eastbound on Reed Street and the teen riding the scooter was heading north on 10th Street. It’s unknown why they collided at the intersection, but 10th Street is a one-way street and Reed Street is a two-way street. Traffic lights control the intersection in all directions.
Sadly, the young man was pronounced dead at the scene. The scooter rider is identified as a San Jose State University freshman football player named Camdan McWright
The CHP is heading up the investigation.
